HEARTBREAK FOR AFCON HOSTS CAMEROON AFTER A DEFEAT ON THEIR HOME SOIL

Five time winner of AFCON title Cameroon got knocked out on the semi final clash against Egypt through penalty kicks.

However The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon were seen to have dominated in both half's of the game as forward Toko Ekambi got denied a goal by the 33 year old goalkeeper of Egypt Mohammed Abou Gabal. Later in the 17th minute Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui's header was denied by the crossbar.

Cameroon possessed the game to the 90 minute mark of football but also Egypt had their few chances through the Liverpool forward Salah but Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana reacted fast to stop him.

The 90 minutes ended goalless but with more tension as another Egyptian official was shown a yellow card on the bench.

Despite a number of close efforts from both teams, neither side could find the net in 120 minutes of action.

Egypt went into their second penalty shootout of AFCON 2021 having also beaten the Ivory Coast on spot-kicks in the round of 16.

The pharaohs of Egypt netted thrice as Aboubakar strikes one for the team, while two shots of Cameroon got saved by Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabal and Clinton Njie's shot went wide to see the hosts crash out in front of their home fans.

Cameroon will now face Burkina Faso in the third-place play off on Sunday, before Egypt face Senegal in Sunday's AFCON final as Liverpool duo
Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane go head to head.
